The Federal Budget is a Moral Document

"The House of Representatives is expected to vote this week on a budget that cuts human needs programs and enacts more tax breaks that favor the wealthy. But passage won’t be easy... Your voice last year helped moderate House members realize that these budget priorities do not represent your values. Many moderate Republicans are raising tough questions of the House leadership. It just takes a few more "no" votes than last year to protect "the least of these" by defeating the House Budget Committee’s bill. Call the Capitol switchboard toll-free this week to be connected to your Representative's office: (800) 459-1887 Tell your Representative’s staff: "As a person of faith, I am calling to urge Rep. _____ (insert your rep here) to vote against the Budget Committee's budget resolution. It forces cuts in nutrition aid, health care, education, training, housing, and other essential services. Its funding is so low that vulnerable people - infants, struggling workers, the elderly - will lose needed services. In short, it is out of touch with my values.
