great article

here's a quote from one of the worlds best living authors (81 now). "How about Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, the Beatitudes? 'Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the Earth. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God. ... And so on.... For some reason, the most vocal Christians among us never mention the Beatitudes. But, often with tears in their eyes, they demand that the Ten Commandments be posted in public buildings. And of course that’s Moses, not Jesus. I haven’t heard one of them demand that the Sermon on the Mount, the Beatitudes, be posted anywhere. 'Blessed are the merciful' in a courtroom? 'Blessed are the peacemakers' in the Pentagon? Give me a break!" --Kurt Vonnegut, "Cold Turkey" read the rest

psalm 85:10 - "steadfast love and faithfulness will meet / righteousness and peace will kiss each other."

to post the beatitudes in the courtroom, it would have to be a kingdom courtroom; these things only come together under god's rule.

E,
The quote you posted seems to pretty well sum up part of what we were discussing over lunch on Saturday....

Maybe if they were numbered for easy reference like the 10 commandments… hummmm
Also the 10 commandments have greater commonality in American culture- the Judeo side of Judeo-Christian
But then again I don’t think either should be posted in a courtroom
