My turn: Sorry I have been out of the loop a little. My job does not grant me internet access and so Im somewhat of a hermit. Erik...I have to say that you have always been good with me regarding the confrontation of sin / issues. The Mike thing is a prime example. You didnt get loud, bitter or condescending...you asked for the story, expressed how it made you feel and then let me talk while asking me questions. Sure it was painful and awkward, and I had no words to utter...but you addressed the issue. At what point however do we take it upon ourselves to be heard as righteous? I dont think it is our responsibility to convince people of their fallenness so much as it is to point to tangible actions or sin and call it into question. At that point I do believe that a comparison against the model of Christ is appropriate...but we really can do little more. A question I pose to Erik is, 'did you leave the discussion with B because you didnt want to appear righteous, because you dont want the confrontation, or because you were unsure of your personal viewpoint on the issue?' Not that you need to answer to me or anybody, but I think it aids us to reflect on how we internalise conflict, and what our pattern is. To this end we must then ask 'what is healthy? and Is my response healthy?' Kelly - It stands to reason that you would be the faithful blogger! I'll ask you some questions next time around. Love to you both.
